MERLIN Sheath Fault Tester is a powerful system that can successfully locate sheath/earth faults on any type of cable.It offers different modes such as:
HV Test, pre-location, Burning & pin-pointing
Reliable and cost effective sheath fault locator/earth fault detector
Sheath/earth faults develop on any type of underground cable network such as low, medium, high voltage power cables or unshielded multi core control cables. It can be a manufacturing defect or can be caused by improper handling during laying / external damage/any other factor due to which the metallic armor or cores develop leakage with the mass of earth.
These faults can remain undetected for longtime as they do not hamper the working of the cable.It develops into a full fledged fault over a period of time.

1) Output kV Range: There are 3 ranges- 0-3kV, 0-6 kV and 0-12 kV.
2) Output current: There are 3 ranges 0-100, 0-200 and 0-400 mA3)
The total VA rating of the power supply is 1000 VA.
The instrument is able to deliver 0-83 mA at 12 kV range.
The current reading will be indicated on 100 mA F.S.D.
Please note that there are 100 divisions on the scale of the meter. The operator can read 5 mA current easily on the scale.
Please note the maximum current output at the ranges:
a) 0-3 kV: 333 mA on 400 mA FSD
b) 0-6 kV: 166 mA on 200 mA FSD
C) 0-12 kV: 83 mA on 100 mA FSD. (FSD is full scale deflection).
