Prototek is an industry leader in Sonde-based locating. You'll find on this web site an impressive variety of transmitters that get into about any place there is, with companion receivers that make this type of locating a breeze.

We have also introduced a line of Line Tracing equipment to expand your ability to locate pipelines and drainfields, as well as locating utilities in order to avoid digging them up by accident.

FM Series ~ Miniature Transmitters

These miniature transmitters go almost anywhere. They are ideal for locating in small cast iron and non-metallic lines and P-traps.

Flushable Transmitters

The Most Affordable Locating Solution

Prototek flushable transmitters to take the guesswork and expense out of locating septic  tanks. Or taped to a push rod, they do a great job exploring small lines and drain field laterals.

These sturdy units are hermetically sealed and won't leak in the most hostile environments. Although you can't change the batteries, they are:

Reusable - turn if off after a locate to use it again later

Recyclable

Tie a string or fish line to the eyelet for easy retrieval if you're not going to dig up the tank right away.

These 8 KHz transmitters take locating in nonmetallic lines to new depths.

This high frequency gives better range in a small package.

Plus, they operate well outside power line frequency,

so electrical interference is a thing of the past.

FV Series

Versatile and powerful. The FV-Series transmitters are the lowest priced transmitters of their kind in the industry, and get the job done day in and day out. Great for cameras without a built-in transmitter, and rugged enough to give you years of service riding in a Spring Carrier for power snaking, or taped to a jetter or push rod, or other device that doesn't subject it to heavy abuse.

LMJ-6

- The answer to locating in steel or ductile iron lines

Now your locates don't have to stop where the steel begins.

Penetrating steel or ductile iron requires a very low frequency, and the 16 Hz LMJ-6 has it.  Use it with your LF2100 in lines of almost any material - steel, cast iron or nonmetallic.

You'll also find that 16 Hz is far less vulnerable to electrical interference than 512 Hz.

FV-40

Versatile and powerful. The FV-Series transmitters are the lowest priced transmitters of their kind in the industry, and get the job done day in and day out. Great for cameras without a built-in transmitter, and rugged enough to give you years of service riding in a Spring Carrier for power snaking, or taped to a jetter or push rod, or other device that doesn't subject it to heavy abuse.

Sonde Locators

LF-2200 Recceiver

  • Sonde locating at 16 Hz (ductile iron), 512 Hz (cast iron and nonmetallic), and 8 KHz (non-metallic only)
  • Line locating at 8 KHz, 16 KHz, 32 KHz and 64 KHz (see our BuzzBox)
  • "Sniffs" the frequency of any sonde or line exciter and locks on to it, from 16 Hz to 100 KHz
  • Traces energized 60 Hz power lines
  • Handle vibrates for "heads up" locating

The AR-1 Receiver "Ardy"

The Ardy analog receiver has proven to be most economical for simple underground non-metallic line and septic tank locates. Now it can do line tracing too!

Team the AR-1 with the orange AT-12 flushable transmitter for dependable septic tank locating, And it's affordable

The antenna rod picks up the signal from the transmitter. It also points you in the direction of the line.

The meter indicates the strength of the peak signal (to the right) as well as the null signal

(to the left).

The sensitivity knob allows you to precisely control the receiver's response to the signal and acts as a volume control and on-off switch.

The battery test button (red button on handle) takes the guesswork out of battery strength.

The near/far switch is used in the "far" position when starting the locate, then switched to "near" when the signal gets stronger.

In addition to watching the signal on the meter, you can hear it through the speaker or optional headphones.

Runs on 6 AA Alkaline batteries.

The FR-1 Receiver "Ferris"

The Ferris analog receiver is great for septic tank locating with cast iron or non-metallic lines and tanks, using the FT-8 flushable transmitter.

But that's not all. Any 512Hz transmitter from Prototek or other manufacturers will work with this receiver, letting you follow cameras, jetters and power snakes wherever they may lead you.

And it's easy to afford

A  Spring Carrier protects your investment

Your FV-10, FV-20 or HV-40 transmitter will not survive the trauma of being taped to a power snake, but it will be happy (and live a longer life) riding in a Spring Carrier attached to the end of your snake or push rod.

The transmitter rides loosely inside the spring, finding its own flex point as it works through the curves in the line. A spanner wrench (included) makes loading and unloading the spring a breeze.

The steel end can be attached to your cable by welding, brazing or threading. We can supply it with the coupler of your choice already installed!
